Tsinghua Institute for Advanced Study in Humanities and Social Sciences, Tsinghua University (TIAS), founded in 2009, is dedicated to creating a high-level academic platform for comprehensive research in the humanities and social sciences. It is currently the only university-level professional academic institution engaged in interdisciplinary, cross-regional, and cross-cultural research in these fields at Tsinghua University. The overall goal is to use the interactions of trans-ethnic, trans-religious, trans-regional, and trans-national dynamics in the era of globalization as an opportunity to rethink the new paradigms of humanities and social sciences research. This involves fostering exchanges and mutual promotions among scholars from different disciplines, regions, and cultures, aiming to stimulate and deepen the understanding between academic research and the realities of the contemporary world. The faculty members and fellows of the TIAS have diverse academic backgrounds in literature, philosophy, history, political science, sociology, law, religion, ethnology, etc. They possess considerable academic influence in their respective fields and have long been recruiting and cultivating outstanding young academics with an international outlook. Over the past decade, focusing on the critical topics of "nation," "religion," "society," and "state," the TIAS has been exploring important issues of diversity, identity and unity, cultural interaction, coexistence, and mutual understanding. This exploration is conducted under the general framework of cross-regional, cross-cultural, and interdisciplinary research.
