The Graduate School of Humanities at Osaka University, organized into the five divisions of Humanities, Language and Culture, Foreign Studies, Japanese Studies, and Arts Studies, was established in April 2022 as the result of a merger between the former Graduate School of Letters and Graduate School of Language and Culture. The Graduate School of Humanities strives to impart its extensive knowledge in literature, language, history, arts, and area studies to its students and society, thus supporting the development of individuals capable of addressing current issues and succeeding internationally. At the same time, it aims to reconstruct the philosophical, ethical, historical, literary, and social foundations of humanities fields in order to create a new form of humanities that transcends the traditional boundaries between the humanities and science in ways that contribute to the betterment of global society.
