Graduate School of Humanities, Nagoya University
WebSiteThe Center for Transregional Culture and Society (TCS) is the Nagoya University Graduate School of Humanities’ core Japanese studies research center. The TCS was established to promote groundbreaking, interdisciplinary, border-crossing research on contemporary Japan and East Asia in the humanities. Since its founding in 2018 as a successor to the University’s Research Center for Modern & Contemporary Japanese Culture (AY2008-2012) and Japan-in-Asia Cultural Research Center (AY2013-2017), the TCS has produced innovative research into culture, history, the arts, and theory that draws upon the humanities’ deep understanding of humankind while forging new links with the natural and social sciences to contribute to long-term social and environmental sustainability.
