Center for Japanese Studies, College of Liberal Arts, National Taiwan University
WebSiteThe Center for Japanese Studies at the College of Liberal Arts, National Taiwan University, was established in November 2013 through the dedicated efforts of Professor Chen Jo-shui, former Dean of the College, and Professor Shyu Shing-ching, the Center’s founding director. Its mission is to promote international Japanese studies from a Taiwan-based perspective. The Center is built upon two core pillars: “Dialogue between the Humanities and Social Sciences” and “Fostering Young Scholars in Japanese Studies.” To this end, it organizes a wide range of educational and research activities, including graduate student workshops, collaborative research meetings, public lectures, and academic symposia. These efforts aim to develop a unique Taiwanese approach to Japanese studies while strengthening collaboration with researchers both at home and abroad. In addition, the Center actively supports the cultivation of future experts and scholars in Japanese studies through initiatives such as the NTU Nitori Scholarship (台湾大学似鳥奨学金). It also engages in a variety of academic publishing and outreach initiatives, including the Japanese Studies Research Series(『日本学研究叢書』), the NTU Journal of East Asian Cultural Studies(『台大東アジア文化研究』), and the YouTube program Exploring Japan in 10 Minutes (Chinese title: 10分鐘探索日本).
